Bryan writes about the demise of C++. Like Bryan, I also code excusively in C++. I agree with iggykin’s comment that the demand today is for form/databases and web apps. I’m sure I will move to C# one day but it just doesn’t make sense for me now. [Via Scobleizer]

Yes, 2 monitors are better than one [via Scoble]. Yes every software developer should have 2. But linking increased lines of code written to having two monitors is a bit much. Being able to display your mail app or browser or newsreader in a second monitor while you code could mean you are more likely to be distracted for example. I’m sure there are developers that are quick on the keyboard that can manage switching between apps or between virtual desktops. You tend to conform to the environment you’re in. But the environment you want to be in is the one with 2 monitors!
I’ll miss Marcus. Not only is he a talented designer, he is great to work with and very professional. Microsoft is lucky to have him.
I’ve never owned an Apple PC. I’ve developed on one a while back. I don’t dislike Apples, I simply make my living off Windows and prefer to own hardware that most of my family and friends own. Jane’s laptop running Millenium is due to be replaced soon. I plan to make a case to replace it with a Mac. For her purposes of surfing, emailing and an occasional Word flyer, the Mac will do fine. And I know she will enjoy the software. She’s never experienced a Mac or the innovative software that runs on it. Of course I won’t mind having the Mac in the house either. Just because I choose not to use Macs doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate them or wouldn’t enjoy one.
Anyway, about the title. Read what Steve Job’s has to say about Longhorn
