Limewire
Posted on March 15th, 2005 No commentsI don’t spend a lot of time using a P2P application but when I do, the latest one I’ve used is Limewire
This page reviews various P2P apps looking at how much bundle-ware and EULA payload each program contains. The study was commissioned by Limewire.
LimeWire has no EULA and no bundle-ware. If you already have the Java Runtime
Environment installed, it also has the smallest install footprint of any of the
apps (cuz it’s a Java application). -
MSN Desktop Search
Posted on January 16th, 2005 1 commentI recently replaced Google Desktop search with MSN Desktop Search on my computer.
I like the ability to create shortcuts to launch various files, programs and sites.Help with Desktop Search
Help with Deskbar ShortcutsYour deskbar shortcuts are stored in the MsnDeskbarShortcuts.ini file. This file is located in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\application data\MSN Search Toolbar folder.
Here is a collection of shortcuts for the MSN Deskbar
And some more collecections
Inside Secrets of MSN Desktop SearchHere is how to reduce the space taken up by the MSN Deskbar toolbar.
A Summary:Find this folder in your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSN Apps\DBNext,
add a DWORD value with the name of "Buttons" and change the value of
"Buttons" to "1". On your toolbar, uncheck the MSN Deskbar to clear it
from your toolbar then re-check it to add it again without the button. -
MP3 Editing
Posted on January 12th, 2005 No commentsAnybody have a good free MP3 editing software they use?
The best one I’ve found which allows you to split and save files is MP3DirectCut.
It has a histogram type graphical view that allows you to preview and split sections. -

Installing Blogging software
Posted on January 10th, 2005 No commentsI think weblogs are an invaluable communication tool that development teams in particular but any company team would benefit from. Not something you can necessarily convince someone of by talking to them. Like blogging in general, you have to experience it to understand the benefits of weblogs.
I’m going to see if it can work here at work.
I’ve been told that anything PHP based running on Apache would be easy to install so I’m going to search the web and find free blogging software that meets that criteria

Usability vs. Functionality
Posted on December 7th, 2004 No commentsDoes your application offer enough cheese to overcome any pain in using it?
Bad programs that offer something great can be successful but not programs that offer something not so compelling and offer a poor interface to it.
